The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum presents an all media juried exhibition open to anyone, above high school age, living within 100 miles of Mason City, IA. All works are to be original, by the entering artist, completed since January 2024, and not previously entered into the MacNider Area Show.

Terms and conditions

DISPLAY DATES: July 3 – September 23, 2026

ELIGIBILITY:All artists above high school age living in a 100-mile radius of Mason City.

ENTRIES: A total of two (2) entries may be submitted by each artist in the form of small jpegs (1 MB per image maximum to mlinskeydeegan@masoncity.net). If e-mailing entries, please send in your signed entry form by mail or e-mail or fill out the online entry form available at macniderart.org/exhibition-entry-forms/. All works are to be original, by the entering artist, completed since January 2024, and not previously entered into the MacNider Area Show. Do not submit the actual artwork for jury. Entry deadline is Saturday, May 23, 2026. All accepted artwork must be ready to exhibit.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE:All artists will be notified via e-mail if their artwork has been accepted into Area Show: 50. Artists without e-mail should note this on the entry form—they will be notified by mail.

ARTWORK DELIVERY: All accepted entries can either be sent or hand-delivered to the Museum. Accepted artworks must be delivered to the Museum no later than 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Cost of all shipping will be borne by entrant.

ARTWORK PICK-UP: Exhibited artwork may be picked up during regular Museum hours starting Saturday, September 26, 2026. All hand-delivered entries must be picked up by Saturday, October 31, 2026. Work left after this date will be disposed of at the discretion of the Museum.

INSURANCE: Extreme care will be exercised in handling entries. However, the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum cannot assume liability for accidents in shipping. The insuring of works in transit will be left to the discretion and responsibility of the individual artists. While in Museum possession, artworks will be insured.

AWARDS: The Juror for Area Show: 50 is Kong Ho – Associate Professor of Art, North Iowa Area Community College. An artists’ reception will be held on Saturday, July 11, beginning at 11 a.m. Awards will be presented at 11:30 a.m. Awards totaling $1,000 will be granted at the discretion of the juror: Best In Show Award – Solo Exhibition in opening in 2027; 3 Excellence Awards – Each $250; 2 Merit Awards – Each $100; Most Daring Award – $50.

SALES: All artwork must be priced for sale or NFS (not for sale). A 40% commission on sales will be retained by the Museum.

NOTE: The exhibitor, by signing the entry form, agrees to all the aforementioned conditions of entry. No entry will be accepted without a signed entry form.
