Amythest Hultman Warrington, of Waterloo, was presented the Best in Show award during the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Iowa Crafts: 46 (2023) exhibition for the ceramic piece, Preserving a Memory. This award granted Warrington a solo exhibition in the Museum’s Center Space Gallery. Warrington’s show, Grief is the Price of Love, is currently on display and features four ceramic installations exploring love and loss.
In her artist statement Warrington writes:
“My work explores the tragedy of loss but also the beauty in it. Love is required between people to feel the pain of losing them, as you would not feel the grief of loss without first experiencing the love, and without the love you would not experience the grief.”
Grief is the Price of Love will be on display through Saturday, September 16. Admission to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is free. Museum hours are Tuesday, Thursday = 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Friday, Saturday = 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; closed Sunday, Monday. For more information on this or any other exhibition please call the Museum at 641-421-3666.
