Private Group Studio Art Classes

Looking for a creative family activity? Would you and the kids like to get out of the house for some fun, while staying in your family group? The Museum is offering group classes designed for family or friend groups who may not be comfortable with traditional art classroom settings. The class includes an instructor teaching only your group one-on-one for the class duration as well as all the supplies needed to have a great time. Class size limited to 10 participants. Choose from the listed classes and call to schedule a class at a time that’s convenient for you and your group.

AIR DRY CLAY CREATIONS See example here!
If you are a group/family who like to create and get your hands messy, then this class is for you. We will play with clay to make a variety of hand built projects.

SPOOKY HOUSE DESIGNS See example here!
Have a creative good time with your family when you design your own spooky house. So much fun, it will scare you! Each family receives one house to design.

Who you gonna’ call? MacNider Art Museum! Make some glow in the dark art and Ghostbusters themed crafts. It will be a class full of arts and crafts living together!

ADULT PAINTING CLASS (Ages 13-adult)
Are you interested in painting? You and your group can create wonderful works of art with a fall, winter, or abstract theme. Painting with your group or family can be a fun way to get into the arts!

ONLINE and Homeschool CLASSES
Are you homeschooling or online schooling this fall? The MacNider Art Museum is offering custom built classes for those choosing these options this fall, including one-on-one art tutoring. Call the Museum to discuss details. In-person and zoom classes are available.

COVID-19 Restrictions for Classes: Everyone entering the museum and attending a class will wear a mask. If you do not have one we will provide one, free of charge. All in-person classes have a limit of 10 participants. When a class fills a new one will be created, we will not be going above 10 participants per class at this time. Participants will be spaced at least 6 ft. apart in the studio. Supplies will be set out for each person and not shared with others. We encourage all class registrations to be done over the phone by calling 641-421-3666.

*Please note: CLASS CREDIT REQUESTS will be honored if the request occurs ONE WEEK PRIOR to the first meeting of the class.

In consideration of others, please do not bring sick children to the museum, or come if you are ill.  This includes persons who may not currently have a fever but are still having symptoms of sore throat, nagging cough, and stomach issues.

Please  remember to silence your cell phones and refrain from taking calls and texting while attending these classes. Thank you!

As of September 1, 2015 we will no longer offer pro-rated pricing for multiple-day classes if you cannot attend every day. Everyone will need to pay the full price. We want to encourage everyone to attend all scheduled class sessions as most projects in these classes take multiple days to complete. Missing classes may result in not being able to participate in scheduled projects as well as unfinished projects. Please call 641-421-3666 with questions

Scholarships Available
