Anna Lewis to speak at the MacNider Art Museum on August 5

The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is excited to announce that Anna Lewis will be giving a special presentation on “22 Women of Steel & Stone: Women Architects” to coordinate with In Her Own Right: Marion Mahony Griffin exhibition on display in the Kinney Lindstrom Gallery from May 5 – August 16, 2017. This speaking event will take place on Saturday, August 5 at 2 p.m. in the Museum’s Salsbury Room.  Seating will be on a first come, first served basis and is free and open to the public.

Author Anna M. Lewis will share stories of female architects, engineers, and landscape designers from the 1800s to today—ending with comments about STEM programs in our schools and how we can encourage the young builders of the future. There will also be books for sale and signing after the presentation.

Anna M. Lewis is an award-winning toy inventor, author of WOMEN OF STEEL AND STONE  and City Doodles – CHICAGO, and a STEM advocate/lecturer. Her articles have appeared in INNOVATION, Appleseeds, Odyssey, Toy Design Monthly, and others. Through her companies, Ideasplash and Stemsplash, she promotes creativity and STEM in the schools. She lives in St. Charles, Illinois.
