Paintings from the Vault was on display in the Museum's Center Space Gallery from November 21, 2014 - February 14, 2015. Paintings from the Vault celebrates paintings from the Museum's Permanent Collection, collected between 1970 - 2008, which had not been on display in one of the five Permanent Collection display galleries for some time. Most museums only display 5-10% of their collections at any one time (The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum has about 10% of its total art holdings on display). The rest are stored in art storage areas or vaults, where proper temperature, humidity and light controls are maintained. This is good for the artwork, but not as ideal for visitors who will miss the opportunity to view some magnificent pieces of art.
